What Is a PG9 Prohibition Notice

A PG9 Prohibition Notice is issued when a trailer is found to be unsafe or unroadworthy. This is a legal notice that immediately prevents the trailer from being used on public roads.

Until the required repairs are completed and the notice is officially lifted, the trailer must not be used.

What Happens After a PG9 Is Issued

Once a PG9 notice has been issued, the trailer must go through a specific process before it can be used again.

  1. The trailer must be taken to an authorised workshop
  2. A full inspection must be carried out, not just the listed defects
  3. All faults must be repaired to a safe standard
  4. The trailer must be re inspected and confirmed roadworthy
  5. The uplift process must be completed and recorded correctly

This process must follow DVSA and NTTA requirements.
