An inspection looks at the condition and operation of the door, including visible damage, worn or seized components, loose fixings, alignment, locking and safe operation. We can explain what needs attention and whether the issue is suitable for servicing, repair or further assessment.
Checks can also identify unsuitable previous repairs. Written findings and recommendations help you plan any work required. Do not continue using a defective door until it has been assessed and made safe.
PUWER and LOLER: which applies?
Roller shutter doors used at work need appropriate maintenance and, where required, inspection under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). A standard roller shutter door is not lifting equipment covered by LOLER merely because the door moves vertically. See HSE guidance on equipment outside LOLER. Ask us to assess the requirements for your equipment and its use.
